Mooring Options
Yachts of exceptional beam will be charged extra, 1.5 times the normal rate to reflect the extra space being occupied.
Owners of yachts and other craft (including dinghies) must make their own arrangements for the care of their boats. Owners away from the locality must inform the Harbour Master of such arrangements, and provide a contact number in case of an emergency.
The Commissioners and their staff cannot accept responsibility for the safety of such boats but may, at their discretion, cause any vessel to be removed or secured or otherwise dealt with without liability for any damage caused thereto or to other craft thereby.
Mooring on South Quay
At the Harbour Master’s discretion these berths may be used for a maximum of 20 minutes by vessels taking on fresh water, embarking heavy gear and stores, for vessels embarking or disembarking passengers and for angling and fishing vessels loading/unloading catch.
Restrictions on Mooring Space
On Saturday nights during the summer the Harbour is often full to capacity and on occasions the Harbour Master has to turn away vessels. Entry to the Harbour may be temporarily suspended on these and other occasions when:
- by day a red flag is flown from the flag pole on the Wightlink jetty and signs with the words "Harbour Full" are exhibited on the end of the Wightlink jetty and on the Dolphin at the west side of the Harbour entrance.
- by night the "Harbour Full" sign on the Wightlink jetty is illuminated. Harbour Staff have been instructed to ignore hand signals.
Please keep this guide aboard your vessel for future use of crew who may not be familiar with local arrangements.
