OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW FACILITIES AT YARMOUTH HARBOUR WEDNESDAY 17 AUGUST 2011
Friday 19th August 2011

The completion of extensive development work was celebrated on Wednesday 17 August with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The opening was carried out by Judi Griffin, Chair of the Leader Local Action Group.
The work was completed with the help of an extremely generous grant from LEADER. In total the grant was £78,000, without which the development could not have happened. The grant was administered on the Isle of Wight by Natural Enterprise. Both LEADER and Natural Enterprise considered this to be an extremely high profile project as it involved the development of a main entry point to the Island.
The improvements include pontoons for dinghies, dinghy racks, widening of the river slipway, an electronic winch and security gate at the dinghy park, and on the South Quay a new pavement, making the area safer for pedestrians, as well as new benches and planters.
The Vice-Chairman of Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners, Martyn Collinson, said a few words about the project and Judi Griffin cut the ribbon to formally open the new facilities.
