Phase 4a Harbour Development Approved
Wednesday 9th November 2011
The Commissioners have decided to go ahead with part of Phase 4 of the Harbour Development during the winter of 2011/12.
This option includes some piles and pontooning in the south east corner of the inner harbour adjacent to the RNLI berth and the emergency slipway.
This area will be used for the berthing of visiting RIBs during the day and will provide overnight walk ashore berths for yachts as well.
Some of the pontoons will be heavy duty concrete pontoons to break up waves in a north easterly wind and sea, and will help to protect the rest of the harbour.
Work is expected to be complete by Easter 2012.
A plan of the development can be viewed here.
