Reporting the spillage of oil or other pollutants
Under Byelaw 13 no person shall pump or wilfully or carelessly allow to escape into the Harbour any dangerous or offensive matter.
All such incidents, including the spillage of oil or other marine pollutants into the Harbour, should be reported immediately to the Harbour Master, either via VHF channel 68, telephone to 01983 760321 or verbally to Harbour staff.
Delivery of Waste
Yarmouth Harbour offers a number of facilities for the collection and disposal of waste generated by vessels visiting the Harbour.
Collection sites are identified on the Harbour map but a summary would be:
General Garbage
Skip located behind the Harbour Office
No tyres, refrigerators, freezers, batteries, flares, asbestos or fire extinguishers.
Waste Oil
In ground tank to the west of the Harbour Office
Maximum of 5 gallons per vessel
Flares
Leave with staff at Harbour Office Reception
No limit
Glass bottles
Bottle banks located at: Council car park and East of the Harbour Office
No limit
Textiles
By bottle bank in Council car park
No limit
Aluminium cans
By bottle bank in Council car park

Human waste
Pump ashore facility to the west of the Harbour Office
No limit
Where vessels wish to deposit greater amounts than the limits specified above, at least 24 hours notice must be given to Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners. A charge may be made for waste above the agreed limits. Requests can be made by:

As a general policy statement, Yarmouth (IOW) Harbour Commissioners encourage all vessels to segregate their waste and encourage recycling. Yarmouth (IOW) Harbour Commissioners will prosecute persons found illegally dumping waste in other than the recognised areas designated for the reception of that type of waste.
