NEXT YEAR'S FESTIVAL WILL RUN FROM 29th - 31st MAY 2009

This year's Festival was the busiest in 12 years!

From the moment it was opened by our guest Sir Robin Knox-Johnston it was a roaring success, with over 120 old gaffers and perfect weather.

Sir Robin is one of Britain's most outstanding sailors.  In 1968/9 he became the first man to sail round the world single-handed in his yacht Suhaili.

He completed his second solo circumnavigation in the yacht SAGA Insurance in 2007, finishing in 4th place in the Velux 5 Oceans race.

At 68 he was the oldest competitor in the race.

Frequently taking part in  long-distance ocean racing, Sir Robin has held many records in his time, including the fastest circumnavigation, achieved with Peter Blake in Enza  in 1994.

Amongst his many shore-based activities, he has been President of the Sail Training Association and a Trustee of the National Maritime Museum.
