The Western Yar Estuary is a wonderful place for wildlife and its tidal waters, saltmarsh and mudflats are home to a wide range of plants and animals that are specially adapted to living in the challenging conditions.
The estuary also looks after us, providing a beautiful place for our activities, reducing the impact of flooding and absorbing and binding carbon from the atmosphere to help us cope with the challenge of climate change. In this section are some of the amazing habitats and wildlife that you can see here.
To find out more about the work being done to support these habitats and how you can help, visit Secrets of the Solent Project and LIFE ReMEDIES.
The annual Taittinger RSYC Regatta takes place from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July 2022 at Yarmouth Harbour.
Visitor berthing space will be limited to outer mooring buoys and the RIB pontoon.
