Waste Management
Yarmouth Harbour offers a range of facilities for disposal of waste and recycling generated by visiting vessels and mooring holders.
The harbour’s main waste and recycling skip can be found in the southwest corner of the Harbour Office car park, near the swing bridge.
All waste and recycling sites are shown on the Yarmouth Harbour map.
UK / EU Waste Only
No international catering waste is accepted, meaning that food waste from outside the EU must not be deposited in Yarmouth Harbour skips or bins.
Please contact the Harbour Office to make separate arrangements.
Waste Oil
Waste oil may only be disposed of in the ‘Waste Oil’ tank south of the Harbour Office.
Please ask at Harbour Office Reception for permission.
Flares
Yarmouth Harbour can no longer accept flares and nor can any Isle of Wight Police Station.
Please contact the nearest Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) on 023 9255 2100.
- Damaged or out-of-date flares should never be used, dispose of safely as soon as possible.
- Anyone who has expired flares is responsible for arranging safe disposal.
- Contact your original supplier to see if they take time-expired flares.
- Ramora UK also works alongside the Coastguard to dispose of expired flares.
Engine Batteries
Please ask Harbour staff for assistance.
Glass Bottles / Aluminium Cans
Green, clear, brown bottles, and aluminium cans should be disposed of in the waste and recycling skip in the southwest corner of the Harbour Office car park, near the swing bridge.
Sewage
There is a self-service pump-out facility available on the fuel pontoon. No limit.
Textiles
Textiles can be placed in the Isle of Wight Council’s recycling facility in the Council Car Park, River Road, Yarmouth.

Waste And Recycling Enquiries
Where vessels wish to deposit greater amounts than the limits specified above, or the waste is from outside the EU, at least 24 hours’ notice must be given to Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners. A charge may be made for waste above the agreed limits. Requests can be made by phoning the Harbour Office on +44(0)1983 760321, by emailing info@yarmouth-harbour.co.uk, or by post, or via an agent.
Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners advises all vessels to segregate their waste and encourages responsible recycling. Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners will prosecute any persons found illegally dumping waste in areas other than those designated for the reception of that type of waste.
